How I Work

I am a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, and I work with people aged 18+, in person.

I offer once weekly 50 minute therapy sessions.

What is Psychodynamic Psychotherapy?

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is based on many of the ideas of Freud and Jung, but developed further by contemporary thinkers and researchers.

Our thoughts, feelings and behaviour can be affected by, the deeply-held, unconscious assumptions which we hold towards ourselves and others, often originating in early childhood experiences. These can cause difficulties in living your life fully.

Whilst some anxiety (for example, at work) is motivating, it is als true that overwhelming and enduring anxiety, and panic attacks arising from the reality of overwork/high expectations, can block off other feelings including anger, and sadness.

I would encourage you to talk freely about what is troubling you now. This can feel unfamiliar but it gets easier.

Exploring early memories and feelings can help you to understand the connections between past events and current personal and work relationships, and so achieve changes to how how you think, act and feel now and in the future.

The Initial Consultation.

The initial 75 minute consultation, provides an opportunity for us to meet each other, for you to have an experience of how I work, and decide if what I offer would be benefical, and agree a way forward.
